Thinking about becoming Catholic?

Everyone needs a family!  The support and love one receives from a family gives life meaning, direction, and hope. The Catholic Family, for more than 20 centuries has attempted to follow the footsteps of the Lord Jesus in bringing God's eternal love to the world. Have you ever thought of becoming Catholic or do you know someone who has expressed interest in becoming a Catholic? We periodically offer sessions (called OCIA - Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) to explore Catholicism and how to become Catholic.  Reach out to Father John for more information!  jyonkovig@rcdony.org

Typical Content of OCIA:

  • Foundational Teachings: Sessions on God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, Catechism,  and the Church.

  • Sacraments: Explanations of baptism, confirmation, Eucharist, and other sacraments.

  • Catholic Practices: Discussions on prayer, liturgy, and living as a Catholic.

  • Moral Life: Exploration of Catholic morality and the Ten Commandments.
